Lazy Saturday morning = Chance to catch up on my blog... Sorry I've been slackin' lately ladies. But yeah, work calls and calls and calls and eventually.. well, you get the idea.
Finally able to enjoy a Saturday to myself, I sat down this morning with my cup of coffee and picked up a book I had forgotten I actually had. A book the lovely @MeggsT sent me for Christmas last year as a surprise. "Fifty Shoes That Changed the World". Yep. She truly appreciates my inner dork and love of all things shoes. But it totally reminded me of this wonderful pair of shoes I had yet to post... For shame, I know!
My heart goes thuuuuuuudddddd everytime I try these fantabulous oxfords on. These beauties are from Poetic Licence. Their name??? "Backlash"..and in this rich yellow with tweed detail and luscious brown satin laces... well... umm.. you can see why!!
They are the perfect wear with everything match all oxfords of the season. Yep. *nods* The great mustard hue acts as a neutral tone with your wardrobe. Now, I definitely prefer sticking to the brown side of that wardrobe with these rather than wearing black with them at all as to avoid the bumble bee look, but you can definitely go as close as a great gray.
Now I couldn't help myself when we got these in... I fell in love with the yellow, but I am having an affair with the mint green ones!
*pants and fans self* I totally am beyond infatuated with the deep purple satin laces that elicit drool and the boldness of the turquoise petal trim that makes the tweed pop in such a sexy way... these are NOT just oxfords.
These are naughty secretary..naughty schoolgirl... naughty shoe rep.. *giggle* Just.. yeah..
But we must thank the great Salvatore Ferragamo for his beautiful patchwork oxfords of 1930....
With the Mondrian-esque feel of Ferragamo's take on the oxford, he was making a sexy menswear statement.. showing it could also be done with an artistic twist adding visual appeal and personality to the shoes. What I wouldn't give to get my hands on these vintage lovelies?! *swooooon*
Go check out the book for yourself. It was a great surprise last year! I love it! Easiest place I've found it is online at
Amazon.
As for the shoes? Well.... umm... for the most part these girls are sold out.. *hides* But you might catch some still online with
Feet First down in New Orleans, LA or on
Anthropologie?
